An Order for Morning Prayer
We greet the Day
Blessed be God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
And blessed be God's kingdom, now and
for ever. Amen.
Trisagion
(repeat three times)
Holy God,
holy and mighty,
holy immortal one,
have mercy upon us.
Collect
Almighty God, by grace alone you call us and accept us in your service.
Strengthen us by your Spirit, and make us worthy of your call; through Jesus
Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God,
now and for ever.
1 The Lord is my shepherd, I
shall not want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures;
he leads me beside still waters;
3 he restores my soul
He leads me in right paths
for
his name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk through the darkest
valley,
I
fear no evil;
for you are with me;
your
rod and your staff—
they
comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me
in
the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my
cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and
mercy shall follow me
all
the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
my
whole life long.
Reflective Prayer
God
of peace, by the blood of the eternal covenant you brought again from the dead
our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep; make us perfect in every good
work, and work in us that which is pleasing and good; through Jesus Christ to whom
be glory for ever and ever. Amen
Affirmation of Faith
The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe
in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe
in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

O Jesus Christ, holy and blessed!
Now as we come to the setting of the sun,
and our eyes behold the vesper light,

You are worthy at all times to be praised by happy voices,
O Son of God, O Giver of Life,

The Word of God
Psalm 91
1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most
High •
and abides under the shadow of the Almighty,
2
Shall say to the Lord, 'My refuge and my stronghold, •
my God, in whom I put my trust.'
3 For he shall deliver you from the snare of the
fowler •
and from the deadly pestilence.
4
He shall cover you with his wings
and you shall be safe under his feathers; •
his faithfulness shall be your shield and buckler.
5 You shall not be afraid of any terror by
night, •
nor of the arrow that flies by day;
6
Of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, •
nor of the sickness that destroys at noonday.
7 Though a thousand fall at your side
and ten thousand at your right hand, •
yet it shall not come near you.
8
Your eyes have only to behold •
to see the reward of the wicked.
9 Because you have made the Lord your refuge •
and the Most High your stronghold,
10
There shall no evil happen to you, •
neither shall any plague come near your tent.
11 For he shall give his angels charge over
you, •
to keep you in all your ways.
12
They shall bear you in their hands, •
lest you dash your foot against a stone.
13 You shall tread upon the lion and adder; •
the young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.
14
Because they have set their love upon me,
therefore will I deliver them; •
I will lift them up, because they know my name.
15 They will call upon me and I will answer
them; •
I am with them in trouble,
I will deliver them and bring them to honour.
16
With long life will I satisfy them •
and show them my salvation.
Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy
Spirit;
as it was in the beginning is now and
shall be for ever. Amen.
Scripture
Reading Luke 12: 22-26, 31-32, 24
Jesus said to his disciples: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about
your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. For life is
more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do
not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And
how much more valuable you are than birds!
Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest? Seek God's kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.
Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has
been pleased to give you the kingdom. For where your
treasure is, there your heart will be also."
The Nunc Dimittis (The Song of Simeon)
Save us, O Lord, while waking,
and guard us while sleeping,
that awake we may watch with Christ
and asleep may rest in peace.
1Now, Lord, you let your servant go in peace: •
your word has been fulfilled.
2My
own eyes have seen the salvation •
which you have prepared in the sight of every people;
3A light to reveal you to the nations •
and the glory of your people Israel.
Glory
to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit;
as it was in the beginning is now and shall be for ever. Amen.

you, heavenly Father, and clear my mind of any stress or worry.
In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

The
Prayer of Mary
My soul proclaims the greatness of
the Lord,
my spirit rejoices in God my Savior
for he has looked with favor on his lowly
servant.
From this day all generations will call me
blessed:
the Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his Name.
He has mercy on those who fear him
in every generation.
He has shown the strength of his arm,
he has scattered the proud in their conceit.
He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,
and has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.
He has come to the help of his servant Israel
for he remembered his promise of mercy,
the promise he made to our fathers,
to Abraham and his children forever.
(Lk 1:46-55)
Let us bless the Lord:
Thanks be to God!
