Waiver of Release

I understand and agree that officiating weddings while the province and local governments are operating under limitations due to Covid-19 carries with it the risk to me and to those in attendance of infection and/or transmission of the virus. I willingly and knowingly accept that risk. I also understand and agree that the Community Catholic Church of Canada does not and will not authorize me to officiate any wedding that violates any national, provincial, or municipal guideline during the pandemic.

With this understanding, I, individually, and on behalf of my heirs, successors, assigns, and personal representatives, hereby release, relieve, and forever discharge the Community Catholic Church of Canada, the Presiding Archbishop, the bishops, and all leaders, clergy, representatives, and officers, (in their official and individual capacities) from any and all liability whatsoever for any illness or injury (including death), and for any loss that I may sustain, including but not limited to any penalties, fines, claims, demands, actions, causes of action, judgments, damages, expenses, and costs, including attorneys' fees, which arise out of, result from, occur during, or are connected in any manner with my participation in a wedding during the pandemic, any related or independent travel.

I understand and agree that throughout my participation in weddings during the pandemic and emergency measures, I am responsible for abiding by the laws of any municipality in which I am residing or traveling and the policies and procedures of the Community Catholic Church of Canada. The Church reserves the right to decline to retain me as a chaplain in the Church if, at any time during the emergency, I officiate at a wedding which violates the health and safety regulations imposed by the nation, province, or local government during the pandemic.

I understand and hereby acknowledge that I will be subject to discipline by the Church if I violate any such law, policy or procedure. I hereby consent to the jurisdiction of the Church to discipline me for any violation of guidelines issued by the various levels of government during the state of emergency. I agree that if such violation results in my separation from the Church and loss of license to officiate weddings in Ontario, I shall not be entitled to a refund or reduction of fees.
